Set on the beautiful cliff tops next to the Seven Sisters in the South Downs National Park; Belle Tout Lighthouse offers some of the most truly stunning land and sea scape views to be seen. Because of the breath-taking beauty of this area it has become one of my favourite areas to paint. There are so many walks through this wonderful countryside, either tracking the coastline on the cliff tops or inland to the picturesque village of East Dean and a little further on to Friston Forest.
Belle Tout Lighthouse is now an award winning bed and breakfast; if are able to stay here you will enjoy superb panoramic views taking in this stunning scenery and enjoying some truly memorable walks. Through the winter you will also find New Forest ponies grazing on the hillside below the lighthouse. If walking is your pleasure, then I suggest heading West along the cliff tops, stopping for tea at Birling Gap and then on over the Seven Sisters to Cuckmere Haven where you will see the world famous view of the ‘Coast Guard Cottages’. On a fine day this is a most wonderful walk with plenty of fantastic scenery.
